Timber

APPLICATION

Lumber is the foundation of reliable and durable construction. Its quality determines the structural strength, warmth, and comfort of your home. If you're planning a new building or renovation, purchasing timber is a practical and cost-effective solution for frames, floors, roofing, and finishing.

The price of timber beams is determined per cubic meter or linear meter and depends on the wood species, grade, and processing method. To choose the best option for your budget and needs, it's important to understand the key characteristics.

What is timber and what are its types?

A timber beam is a log processed on all four sides. Standards define it as having a square or rectangular cross-section, typically at least 100 mm thick.

Timber is available in various sizes, from 40x20 mm to 100x100 mm and larger. Lengths range from 2 to 6 meters. This wide selection allows you to find the perfect material for any type of construction project.

Timber grade

When planning to buy timber, pay attention to the grade:

  • Grade 1 – minimal defects, perfect geometry, the best choice for critical structures;
  • Grade 2 – minor defects that do not affect strength are allowed;
  • Grade 3 – a budget option for technical or rough work.

The higher the grade, the better the appearance and durability of the structure.

Main types of timber by processing method

We offer various types of timber for construction:

  • Profiled timber – features special grooves for tight connections, providing improved thermal insulation and strength.
  • Rough timber – an economical option for rough work.
  • Planed timber – fully processed, with a smooth surface, suitable for open structures.
  • Solid timber – made from solid wood.
  • Glued laminated timber – consists of glued lamellas, offering increased strength and minimal shrinkage.

Rough-laminated timber is the cheapest. Profiled and glued timber are more expensive but provide maximum stability and durability. To prevent warping, the material is kiln-dried and treated with protective compounds against moisture, fungus, and insects.

Why is it worth buying wooden beams?

Timber remains one of the most popular construction materials due to the following advantages: - high strength and reliability; - resistance to external influences; - long service life; - minimal shrinkage and resistance to cracking; - excellent thermal insulation; - environmental friendliness and health safety; - ease of installation and processing. By investing in high-quality timber, you get a warm, strong, and durable structure without unnecessary costs in the future.

Where is timber used?

Timber is widely used in:

  • roofing (floor beams, rafters);
  • floor installation;
  • frame house construction;
  • outbuilding construction;
  • furniture manufacturing.

The appropriate size and type of material is selected for each type of work, so before purchasing timber for construction, it's a good idea to consult with specialists.
